After years devoted mainly to teaching and developing educational materials, I returned to my own artistic practice with a new sense of freedom. In this conversation, I speak about the exhibition Eye eye eye!, the body and shame as recurring themes in my work, the pressure of exhibiting again, and the role music plays in my creative process.
In this interview, I talk about:
- how years of teaching and building an online course interrupted my artistic practice, but also deepened my understanding of art and gave me greater freedom,
- why returning to exhibiting was both exciting and emotionally demanding, especially in relation to fear, self-doubt, and showing my work on my own terms,
- how Eye eye eye! explores the body, shame, vulnerability, and female identity through humor, symbolism, and emotional intensity,
- how the inner critic and music both shape my creative process in very different ways.
Thanks to my beloved friend Zuzana Valešová and the Fullmoonzine for the space in their magazine!
