Teddybear Theory

When you are a little girl, you get a teddy bear from your parents. As you grow older, you receive teddy bears from admirers to remember them by. As an adult woman, you whisper into your man’s ear, “My teddy bear…”
The teddy bear is your “third space.” While playing with it, you can also try to find answers to the strange questions you don’t understand. For example, your body, with all its powerful forces beyond your control. You are neither able to classify nor control it. So, you try to push this power somewhere behind your mind and consciousness. But it keeps coming back, over and over. You are scared of it.
Therefore, you may dress in the teddy bear’s mask, so it’s not obvious that you are blushing from those first erotic tensions that make you feel ashamed. But you are still too small to understand it, so all you can do is wait for the big teddy bear, who will surely come to save and comfort you. And you will put your little hands into its big paws. Let’s hope it will be okay.
For now, you can feed your teddy bear cakes or create ritual bronze monuments for it, because what else can you do?
Until one day. The day when you will skin the teddy bear. Because, as some cultures say, if you are not able to kill, you are not able to love. And the teddy bear has been loving you since the very beginning.
I Love You
Maybe you always thought that the teddy bear wasn’t alive. From time to time, you glanced in its direction, just to make sure—out of the corner of your eye—that it really wasn’t moving. But then, suddenly, it did. Just to show you how much it loves you.
