TEDx Prague Women

February 27, 2019

In this TEDx talk, given at the Prague Women edition in autumn 2018, I explore how sculpture can carry what words sometimes cannot — the weight of contradiction, shame, desire and love. Through stories of my own artistic process, I speak about childhood sexuality, gender expectations, the burden of womanhood, and the beauty of making art that both touches and disturbs.

In this talk, I reflect on:

  • how the sculpture I Love You emerged from the tension between innocence and adult desire,
  • why the Teddybear with a penis sparked such strong reactions, and how toys reflect children’s inner worlds,
  • how I Feel It expresses the visceral link between emotional vulnerability and sexuality,
  • the satirical and disturbing force behind The Dicktators and the sexual allure of power,
  • the making of Point of View — a nine-month sculpting process that mirrors the length of a pregnancy, evoking the tension between creation and motherhood,
  • what it means to sculpt under the weight of societal expectations, and why I embrace art as a space for collective self-reflection.

Thanks to the team of TEDx Prague Women for such a wonderful, life changing experience!
